Tantum Ergo
November 21, 2017
"Tantum Ergo" is sung during Adoration. I love to listen to it as I get ready in the morning or as I work during the day. It is written by Thomas Aquinas, and is his prayer for the Real Presence of the Eucharist. It's almost more meaningful to listen to this song outside of Adoration because it gives me the chance to recognize Christ's true presence in our midst.
One day as I was praying, I flipped open my Bible to this verse about Joseph's dream: "Behold the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means God's with us" -Matthew 1:23.
"Tantum Ergo" allows us to see that God is with us always--we just have to be open to hearing and to seeing that. As I am enlightened with these forms of prayer, Scripture and music, my heart is alive. My soul is filled with joy. Thank you Jesus for the energy, joy, love, and a full heart. Make me one with you. Amen.
