Tonsured Life

Here is a random thought: tonsures. Do you know what they are? If you look at St. Francis of Assisi, he tonsured his hair when he took vows to God to devote his life to Him. All of his brothers followed suit. You don't see that too much these days, but you can still see a tonsure in our everyday life. If you look at a man that is balding, it turns into a tonsure. His hair can start fading from the crown of his head, the circumference continues to expand, or his forehead hairline starts to slip back like the tide. Either way, the man's hair turns into a tonsure before it may all disappear. There's no irony in that; that's just God's humor telling us to pay attention to Him.
